Struggle Bus

I have found there are weeks where I can simply not get off the struggle bus.

Prepping for coffee fest is no small task. We’re basically taking our entire operation and setting up offsite. With enough supplies for 6000 people at a sold out festival, while being on site from 7a-6p both Saturday and Sunday—-it is exhausting simply thinking about it.

I’m in early today with two small catering gigs, followed by typical Friday morning craziness, event set up all afternoon— and then tonight is 8th Grade night for marching band….. and we then the fest begins bright and early tomorrow. 😴
See that struggle bus was RIDING real hard yesterday. My gracious team…. My half sentences of instructions and random continual tasks I would throw their way… With smiles on their faces, they last alongside me as we got most of the prep done.

Then— last night, grace from friends, whose committee meetings I missed — simple oversight on my part, but totally grace shown to my struggle bus ride.

The really cool part: I shared this insanity with my children— i keep it real around here. But in the midst of what i thought was great parenting connection….aunnica reminded me that i have yet to take her shopping for jeans.

🙄Have you ever tried clothes shopping with teenagers?

So, like any wise parent, I told aunnica to just order several pairs off Amazon
Problem solved.

You don’t have to have a high emotional intelligence to see by my child’s face that solution was not exactly gonna cut it…..

In the middle of what I thought was an EXCELLENT parenting rant… I heard it…. The whisper:

Be present.

Just like that, I realized that are one hour and took us to Michael’s. Next-door: Old Navy. I could spare 30 minutes to let my girls try on some jeans.

Even better— we FOUND THEM. (No small miracle friends) AND they were on sale 🥳

So this morning before the insanity kicks up to the 10th°, I’m pausing and choosing to be present. In the midst of then crazy, struggle bus ridden list of to do’s—- to not miss the moments right now.

But I encourage you this Friday friends?

Be present. Show Grace. Take it step-by-step.

Mondays can be ROUGH.

Especially when it’s the Monday headed into one of the BIGGEST weekends of the year!

We are STOKED for Columbus Coffee Festival this weekend— and we are in full prep mode.

So, throwing back a photo from last year— this sweet photo spot was set up right outside the schoolhouse. (Which is where we will be again!)

Okay-- I've gotta just give a shout out to Nate for a minute. He works INSANELY hard on producing high quality coffee for the shop--- but he's always second guessing and doubting himself......
Nate sent a bag of our newest blend: Connection 2.0 to both the creators of our new roaster, and the programer who developed the Hermetheus that works alongside it. He wanted to say thanks for all their help in this process-- as Nate's emailed them each a dozen times or more with questions as he has learned this new machine.
This is the response he got from the program developer this weekend:
"Hey, Nate, I received your coffee in the mail recently. Roasters who share their coffee with us is one of the great perks of this job, so thank you for that! I've now had your blend on 3 different days... 3 different ways (Aeropress, French press, and auto drip). I'm not a Q-grader, and I don't even pretend to have a sophisticated taste palate, but I DO like to offer constructive feedback to roasters. After all, while we want our customers to say great things about our coffee, we all want to know how to improve.
So in light of that, my suggestion on this blend is... "don't change a thing!" 🙂 Seriously. This is truly a lovely cup of coffee! I've had plenty of "okay but not great" coffee and even some "great, but not really my style" coffees. But this one... wow. I could drink this every day and be happy. I hopped on your website, but couldn't find this specific coffee. Do you have a direct link to the coffee? I'd be happy to share it on social media.
Thanks so much for sending this. I wish you the best on your roasting adventures."
