Can’t let this school year come to a close without giving a special shout out to Ellie L. She works for us through the Hilliard City Schools life skills work site program.

She’s stamped sleeves, made syrups & cleaned — AND always done it with a smile!

We want to wish Ellie and all students a safe and awesome summer! (And you too teachers! You deserve this break 🙌)

I know teens can get a bad rap (we’ve had to deal with a few bad eggs lately) BUT teens like Ellie are AMAZING and doing a great job. (As are all the amazing people behind programs like this!)

Hope

It's such a powerful tool.

This week, Aliza turned 11. There is NOTHING quite like the excitement of your childhood birthday.

The build up. The anticipation. The Hope.

Then the PURE JOY across her face all day. It is truly priceless. I found myself in an interesting conversation with Aliza toward the end of her birthday. See, tomorrow we're driving to Findlay to meet up with my parents so they can celebrate Aliza. She said-- Mom, I'm so glad I have saturday to look forward to-- because usually I'm so sad at the end of my birthday. It's over, but now-- I can be excited for something else!

Truth Bomb
She hit the nail on the head with that one.

I've thought a lot about that conversation this week. I don't know about you-- but this week for me has been so wonky and unexpected. Cancelled orders, meetings, and unexpected connections-- meeting with friends whom I haven't seen in months-- such pleasant surprises. But, during it all, I often found myself in the middle of many deep conversations.

LIFE IS HARD.

A lot of you are going through it. I get it. In the core of my being I understand. And I hear it in your voices at the shop.

I came in super early this morning to open-- because at 6:45 I have to hop over to WMS-- Aunnica is receiving a TOWER award. (side note-- totally stoked about it-- it's an award for outstanding actions and attitude toward other people. More than anything, I want to raise the kind kid--) Then I head back to the shop for the normal crazy friday full of meetings and classes walking to the shop and all the things......

But at about 6:11 I found everything done. My list complete. THIS NEVER HAPPENS. I mean, there's certainly more to do-- but with needing to head out soon-- I can't start it now....

So I sat outside and decided to catch up on my devos. This was the verse of the day:
““Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me."

HOPE. That's when it hit me... the power of HOPE. We all need that hope.

So on this Friday morning in the middle of crazy May-cember remember this truth: YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

THROWBACK THURSDAY PIC--- super preggo with Addie about 4 months before we opened Coffee Connections! (Time sure flies!)

This year we've set out the goal to have a blog to our daughters-- each month writing a life lesson we've learned.

Our goal-- post one a month.

Life happens-- and you don't always get it done. So today, I finally got around to writing March and April's blogs.

Let's be clear-- Nate sent his parts over to me in PLENTY of time. lol. These have been sitting on my two do list -- and I kept bumping them.

BUT I finally took the time to prioritize them-- because they mattered to me.

(That's a lesson for another day!)
